Get the Correct Image on the Inside – How we see ourselves determines the kind of life we are going to live. Get the Correct Image on the Inside. Many people go through life with a poor self-image. They don’t understand who they really are. You were born to win, but society has a way of distorting your image to lose through failures, mistakes, rejections, etc. How you see yourself on the inside determines how you live life. Actually, you are created in the very IMAGE and likeness of God.

I want to talk about having the correct image on the inside. How we see ourselves determines the kind of life we are going to live. Many people go through life with a poor self-image and low self-esteem. They don’t understand who they really are. You were born to win, but society has a way of conditioning you to lose through failures, mistakes you made, rejections, etc. If you are not careful, society will distort who you really are. You were not created to be average. Your self-image convinces you to be average. You were not created to drag through life and barely get by. How you see yourself on the inside determines how you “get by.” You are a child of the Most High God. You are created in the very image and likeness of God. God placed life into you. You are equipped with everything you need to succeed.
The first step for all of us to live a life of victory is know and believe who we are -- A CHILD OF THE MOST HIGH GOD. Your DNA has God in it. Think about championship racehorses. They have generation after generation after generation of winners in their blood. However, when the colt is born, it’s legs are wobbly and skinny. It’s not very attractive, but the owners don’t get discouraged. They know inside that wobbly colt is the DNA of its father. That’s how you need to see yourself. You may be wobbly sometimes. You may not look exactly like you want. You may not appear to have the talent, but inside you are strength, abilities, wisdom, and fortitude, everything you need to win your race. You are a champion.
It’s not what you are this minute that matters. It’s what you will become that matters. It’s not your failures that matter. It’s if you allowed failure to teach you success. It’s not past rejections that matter. It’s realizing God has acceptance in your future.
Though your present condition may not look good, that’s not what matters. You may have an addiction. You may have insecurities. That doesn’t change your DNA. You need to see yourself as God sees you. As far as God is concerned, you’ve already won.
Romans 8:30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, HE ALSO GLORIFIED. What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all -- how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
There is a glorious person inside you no matter if you see that person or not. You’re predestined to win and experience all things. Could I get you to say, “I am glorious because God glorified me”? Don’t allow society to change who God predestined you to be.
If you don’t understand who you are and what God put in you and gave you abilities to do then life will distort what’s inside you. I picked out a DVD player and Judy bought it for me at Christmas. I hooked it up and began using it. A commercial came on television about a DVD player. It talked about all the things it could do, burn both sides of a DVD, enhance the picture, capture a timeframe, and on and on it talked. I thought, “I bought the wrong stinking DVD player. I should have waited and bought that DVD player.” Then it showed the entire machine and when I saw the name, I realized, it was the exact DVD player/recorder Judy bought me. My point is in my possession were all those features I needed to do anything I wanted. I simply didn’t know what I had. In your possession, you have everything you need. It’s extremely special and glorious – YOU!
Ephesians 2:10 For we are GOD’S MASTERPIECE. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, SO THAT WE CAN DO THE GOOD THINGS HE PLANNED FOR US LONG AGO.
We need a “can do” attitude. You are one of a kind. There is not another person in this world like you. Some of you don’t feel like you are where you hoped to be in life. Maybe you made some mistakes. Let me tell you something important. Those mistakes did not change your DNA. Those mistakes did not change who God created you to be. Those mistakes did not change the good things God planned for you long ago. There’s still a race horse in there. There’s a champion in there.
Someone may have said things about you, but people do not decide your destiny. God decides your destiny. Someone may have rejected you. That’s ok. God accepts, loves, and approves you. Shake that rejection off and don’t allow it to distort the image in your mind of who you are. NO ONE CAN MAKE YOU FEEL INFERIOR WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION. People will try to push you down. People will say hurtful things, but it’s totally up to you if you allow those hurtful words to take root and distort your self-image. You can believe what people say about you, or you can believe what God says about you. You should say, “God says I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” They say, “I am not capable,” but God says, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” You have to stay offensive with your image not allowing distortion. If you don’t, life will condition you to lose. HOW YOU SEE YOURSELF DETERMINES THE KIND OF LIFE YOU ARE GOING TO LIVE.
God will not change his glorious plans concerning you. You might say, “Oh, Delbert, God would not do that for me.” Yes he will. Once God says it, it will not change. For example, if I say my jacket is white, I’m not telling the truth because it is black. But, if God says my jacket is white, then it will change to white because God cannot lie.
Numbers 23:19 GOD IS NOT A MAN, THAT HE SHOULD LIE. HE IS NOT A HUMAN, THAT HE SHOULD CHANGE HIS MIND. HAS HE EVER SPOKEN AND FAILED TO ACT? HAS HE EVER PROMISED AND NOT CARRIED IT THROUGH?
This verse is so good to me I accented the whole thing. No matter if you realize it or not, whatever God has decided for you to be, you already are. The only thing stopping you is your image on the inside.
1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree… by whose stripes YE WERE HEALED.
God says by his stripes, you WERE healed. Your healing is already in your DNA. Stop allowing society, your failures, and rejections from distorting it. Correct your image on the inside. See yourself healed. Don’t go another day believing what people, or the doctor said about you. You cannot be who God said you are if you believe who people say you are, including the doctor.
Ask yourself, “Am I supposed to drag through life defeated and discouraged?” “Am I supposed to go through life lonely and unfulfilled?” “Am I always supposed to live in debt and never have enough?” Say, “Let me check my DNA. NO! My DNA says I am glorious! It says God has good things planned for me.”
It doesn’t matter what you used to be. When you come to Jesus, you become a new person.
2 Corinthians 5:17 What this means is that those who become Christians become NEW PERSONS. They are NOT THE SAME ANYMORE, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun! (NLT)
There is a new DNA in you. There is no reason to allow your old life and failures of the past to stop your future when you are in Christ. That old life is gone.
Did you know that Jennifer Lopez’s body is insured for 1 Billion dollars? Look at your body. There’s a billion dollars. Her body’s not worth more than your body to you, right? Jennifer’s arm is insured for so much, a leg so much, etc. Betty Grable of older days, insured her legs for 1 million. Today, the courts constantly award people millions of dollars when a limb or body part is injured. So, you are worth a lot of money. Your body parts are worth a lot, but think about your mind. Scientists have tried to recreate the mind for years. How much is your mind worth? Think. Think if you had to purchase your mind. If you had to pay 1 million dollars for it, you would take extremely good care of it. You would program it with the best programs and information. When negative thoughts and lies attempted to infiltrate your mind’s system, you would say no way. This thing cost me a lot of money. I’m going to take care of it. If we had to purchase our minds, how we see ourselves on the inside would be much different. We would guard every thought we allowed to go in there. Here’s my point. REALIZE THE WORTH OF WHAT GOD HAS PLACED INSIDE YOU. YOU ARE GLORIOUS. YOU ARE TRULY FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE.
Psalm 139:13 For YOU CREATED MY INMOST BEING; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I AM FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE; your works are wonderful
Never say negative things about yourself. Never say, “I’m slow.” “I’m unattractive…” “I can’t do anything right.” Stop criticizing God’s amazing creation. God placed an amazing you inside you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Once two blind men wanted Jesus to heal them. Here is what he said.
Matthew 9:29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
In other words, I touched you, but you must believe you can see. God touched your life. You must believe your life is something special. ONCE JESUS TOUCHES YOU, WHAT YOU BELIEVE ABOUT YOU SETS THE LIMITS OF YOUR LIFE.
I heard a story about a man passing a tattoo shop. In the window were displays of different tattoo designs, so he stopped to look. One of the designs read, “BORN TO LOSE.” The owner saw the man looking and came out and asked if he could assist him. He said no, but asked if anyone really tattooed themselves with BORN TO LOSE. The owner said, “Oh yes. Before tattooed on body, tattooed in mind.” With what is your mind tattooed? If tattooed with failure, rejected, unsuccessful, unhappy, then you will live failure, rejected, unsuccessful, and unhappy unless you change that tattoo.
They use laser surgery to remove a tattoo on the outside. How can you remove a tattoo on the inside? Remove it with the word of God.
(TLB) Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is full of living power. It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting deep into our INNERMOST THOUGHTS and desires. It exposes us for WHAT WE REALLY ARE.
(The Message Bible) Hebrews 4:12 God means what he says. What he says goes. HIS POWERFUL WORD IS SHARP AS A SURGEON’S SCALPEL, CUTTING THROUGH EVERYTHING…
You say, “I never get a break.” Remove that tattoo and replace it with, “I have the favor of God on me. God’s goodness and mercy is with me all day long.” You say, “I’ll never get out of debt.” Or, “I’ll never get well.” Remove that tattoo and replace it with, “I prosper and I am in good health even as my soul prospers.”
No place in God’s word does it say you will never get a break, never get out of debt, or never get well. God’s word tells you the opposite. God’s word will go deep and remove those negative innermost thoughts that tattooed you inside. You see yourself for what you really are. God has great things planned for you.
Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your permission. INSIDE you is the DNA of an Overcomer. INSIDE you is more than a conqueror. INSIDE you is a glorious masterpiece. You are one of a kind. God cannot lie. God says on the INSIDE of you is something new never seen before. God says on the INSIDE of you is someone fearfully and wonderfully made. You will become what you believe on the INSIDE. There’s a thoroughbred INSIDE you. Put your shoulders back. Hold your head high. Let God’s word remove those bad, negative tattoos and replace them with who your really are. Your best days are ahead. HAVE THE CORRECT IMAGE ON THE INSIDE.
